Year you entered the seminary? What did you do before you entered the seminary? Why did you enter the seminary?
I entered the seminary for the Diocese of Rochester in 2018. Prior to admission, I attended Monroe Community College and received an associate’s degree in the liberal arts. I was also involved in some local parishes leading youth groups and teaching as a Catechist for elementary and middle schoolers. All of this provided amazing experiences and graces that better enabled me to deliver the love, charity, and knowledge of Christ to His people. I chose to enter seminary to discern Our Lord’s Will for my life in a more integrated way; under the guidance of Holy Mother Church, and in a setting directly designed to nourish the seeds of the priestly vocation.
What was one of the major influences leading you to consider priesthood?
I was, and still am, sincerely inspired by the works of Venerable Fulton J. Sheen, a great orator and archbishop of the Church, who delivered Faith and Reason to the masses through profound literature, theatric homilies, and in his television show Life is Worth Living. I can remember finding an old book of his called, Lift Up Your Heart, in a yard sale one day, and upon reading a few pages, was absolutely struck by his ability to refute all the difficulties of the secular age with bite-sized pondering in Catholic psychology, philosophy, and social teaching. He enkindled within me a deeper love for the beauty and wisdom of the Church that stands to lead God’s children back to Him, truly guiding our own stoney hearts of the ego to be traded for the natural ones God formed us to have!
Aside from all things musical – singing, playing guitar, and listening to music of all genres – I really enjoy collecting old literature, vinyl, and rustic antiques, with most pieces ranging from the early 1900’s to the late 1950’s. The dignity and personality each piece has reminds me of the integrity, goodness, and beauty God gave through His creation, especially when reading old writings of the saints and other holy people of God such as St. Alphonsus and Blessed Solanus Casey. For fun, I also enjoy biking, photography, rugby, white water rafting, creek hiking, and cooking.
